BAGHDAD, The Undersecretary of the Trade Ministry for Economic Affairs Haitham al-Khashali discussed with the Australian Charge d'affaires in Baghdad the desire of Iraq to increase the volume of imports of Australian wheat, which suits the Iraqi taste.
"Iraq's policy is to open up to the world by building strong economic and trade relations with Australia, which has a relationship with it for decades, and Iraq has a desire with the Australian side to increase supplying Iraq with Australian wheat," he said in a statement.
He also noted that "the stages of Iraq's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the gains it will achieve at the time of accession have been discussed, as well as the size and diversity of Australian participation in the upcoming Baghdad International Fair."
For his part, the Australian charge d'affaires stressed "the keenness of his country on economic and trade cooperation with Iraq, especially after the liberation of all its territory from the Daesh gangs, congratulating" the Iraqi people of these victories achieved and wished to be victories in all aspects and areas.
