BAGHDAD, Russia is proposing a Gulf conference to discuss regional security issues, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said.
"We are ready to make a strong contribution and talk to our partners in Iran, Israel, Palestine, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey and other countries of the region," Vershinin said.
"It is time to work to strengthen security in the Middle East and North Africa," he said.
"It may be a first step to hold a conference with the participation of the Gulf states, where issues related to regional security will be discussed," he said.
