Speaker chairs IPU plenary session; expresses pride in Bahrain’s successes in combating pandemic

Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla, has affirmed that Bahrain provides equitable health care and treatment services to all citizens and residents, as part of its efforts to combat the novel Coronavirus pandemic, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to harness all potentials and resources in order to preserve the health and safety of the citizens and residents.

 

She expressed deep pride in the pioneering achievements attained by the kingdom in fighting the pandemic thanks to the dedicated efforts of the National Medical Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus and Team Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in addition to the Bahraini people’s awareness and adherence to the precautionary measures in force.

 

The Speaker made the statements while chairing here today one of the plenary sessions of the 143rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), themed “Harnessing global parliamentary support for vaccine equity in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic”.

 

She indicated that achieving health security for all is one of the priorities of the Kingdom of Bahrain, noting that there are concerted efforts exerted among various sectors to overcome the effects of the pandemic.

 

She stressed that the legislative branch supports all laws and legislation that would strengthen the health system in the Kingdom, and open new paths for quality and efficiency in all treatment services provided to the citizens and residents.
